Porto beat Shanghai Shenhua to win Rotterdam tournament

ROTTERDAM, the Netherlands, August 5 (Xinhua) -- Portuguese football club Porto beat Shanghai Shenhua of China 3-0 to win the Port of Rotterdam Tournament here on Sunday.

Playing at the De Kuip stadium, Porto tore apart the Shenhua defense in the first half with ease, scoring on three occasions.

In the 5th minute, Tarik Sektioui opened the scoring. In the 38th and 41st minutes, Leandro Lima broke through Shenhua's loose defense and scored twice, sending the Portuguese into the driving seat.

Shenhua had its best chance in the 25th minute when its attack hit the post.

During the second half, both teams made multiple changes of players. Both sides created several chances to score, but converted none.

In the 87th minute, a shot by Porto's substitute Ricardo Andrade Quaresma Bernardo hit the crossbar.

In the closing match of the tournament, hosts Feyenoord were held to a 1-1 draw with Liverpool of England.

After two rounds, Porto and Liverpool were level on points with one win and one draw apiece, but Porto won the trophy by conceding fewer goals. Feyenoord, with two draws, stood third, followed by Shenhua with two losses.

The tournament kicked off on Friday.
