MEXICO CITY, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- The World Chess Championship witnessed a 65-move draw between world champion Vladimir Kramnik and Anand Vishwanathan of India as both kept their lead with two points each on Saturday. Peter Leko and Boris Gelfand were the last to finish their long100-move encounter at 21:10 local hours. Alexander Morozevich defeated Peter Svidler, both Russians, with another Russian Alexander Grischuk tying his game with Armenian Levon Aronian. The Krasmnik-Anand game was a 65-move Petrov defense; Morozevich-Svidler was a Scotch 37-move opening, the Grischuk-Aronian was a 31-move Ruy Lpez defense and the Leko-Gelfand game was also a Petrov defense. After the third round, Kramnik and Anand continue as leaders with two points each, while Morozevich, Grischuk, Leko and Gelfand have 1.5 points each; Aronian and Svidler are currently the tailenders with one point each. The 4th round on Sunday feature Svidler-Gelfand, Aronian-Leko, Kramnik-Grischuk and Morozevich-Anand. In the championship, each player has two hours each to make their first forty moves and additional one hour four the next 20 moves when it is necessary. This is the first official World Chess Championship played in Mexico with International Chess Federation (FIDE) rules, and is being played at the Sheraton hotel at Mexico City's Historic Center.
