BELGRADE, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- A Croatian teenage footballer fell down and then died during training, local media reported Wednesday.

The boy, 13, collapsed in the middle of a practice session in Varazdin, 100 kilometers northwest of Zagreb. The coach and the club doctor briefly managed to resuscitate him, but he died later in hospital.

The cause of his death will be determined in an autopsy. The boy passed a mandatory medical examination before signing up for the local side, NK Varteks.

Another young Croat, Ivan Karacic, died after a Siroki Brijeg training in March last year. He was 19.
