LUSAKA, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- A makeshift Zambian national soccer team has qualified for the final of COSAFA Cup after beating Mozambique 3-0 at Super Stadium of South Africa, the Post reported on Sunday. All three goals were from new faces, according to the Post, two of which were scored by under-20 internationals. Former under-23 captain Chivuta took advantage of a sleeping Mozambique central defense and slotted in the opener in the 36th minute. With the scoreboard reading 1-0 in favor of the Chipolopolo boys in the first half, the Mozambicans fought hard for a goal in the first ten minutes of the second half. The vain attempt for an equalizer exposed the Mambas in defense, giving striker Emmanuel Mayuka the opportunity to register a goal on his debut for the senior team. The Zambians did not rest on the 2-goal lead and launched a relentless blow in a counter-attack eleven minutes before the final whistle. South Africa claimed the other victory 1-0 over Botswana in semifinal, setting up a final against Zambia three weeks later.
