Cuban, U.S. women basketball teams fight for Olympic place Sunday

VALDIVIA, CHILE, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Cuba and the United States will play in Sunday's final of the Pre-Olympic Women's Basketball Tournament, in the Chilean city of Valdivia, which awards one place in 2008's Beijing Olympic Games.

Cuba defeated Brazil 69-67 on Saturday, while the United States steamrollered Argentina 104-53.

It will be the second time that the U.S.'s Women's National Basketball Association stars and the Cuban team play in the tournament. In their group phase clash, the U.S. won 85-79.

In Saturday's other matches, Chile beat Jamaica 75-67 and Canada crushed Mexico 77 to 38.

In the play-off for the third place on Sunday, Brazil beat Argentina 73-41.

Sunday's other matches are Jamaica and Mexico playing for seventh place and Chile playing Canada for fifth. The teams in places two to five will get a place in the World Pre-Olympic Qualifier.
