Survey: Chinese warming to Olympic Games' impact

BEIJING, Oct.19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese costumers are showing growing belief that the 2008 Olympic Games will bring economic andfinancial benefits to the country, according to a recent survey.

The survey was conducted among 1,300 customers in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen from July to September by Olympicworldwide partner Visa.

About 78 percent of the respondents in the 20-45 age bracket with family incomes of more than 1,250 yuan (about 166.3 U.S. dollars) per month lauded the Games' net worth, up from 68 percentin the previous month.

Meanwhile, more people believed that the Beijing Games will positively promote China to the rest of the world, with the percentage climbing from 85 percent in July to 93 percent in September, China Daily said.

Some 70 percent of the respondents said they agreed the domestic tourism industry will flourish as a result of the Games and would continue to grow long after the closing ceremony.

In terms of medals won, 62 percent of them think the country can improve on its Athens tally.
