WUHAN, Central China, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Doha Asian Games' bronze medalist Yang Yansheng finished on top podium at the 6th Chinese City Games after conquering a pediatric height of 5.25 meters here on Wednesday in the men's pole vault final.

The 19-year-old jumper from eastern Qingdao, who settled for the third place on 5.50m last December in Doha after having failed all his three attempts on 5.60m, came out the sole winner over the height of 5.25m in Wednesday's final of the under-20 tournament before he tried to challenge himself on 5.40m but failed for three times.

Jinan's Li Kang, also a native of East China's Shandong province, took the silver after the 20-year-old cleared the height of 5.15m on his second attempt but did not jump over both the 5.20and 5.25 meters.

Zhou Bo of northern Shenyang was also stopped by the height of 5.20m but he only made the 5.15m mark on the third attempt.

Yang, who'd been confident for his future after taking the silver in Doha with a hurting waist, firstly made his personal best of 5.50m in 2005 and recently overcame the 5.60m height in his training. The qualification mark for next year's Beijing Olympic Games is 5.70m.
