LONDON, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Coach Mick McCarthy has refused the offer from South Korea, said his club Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday.
The former coach of the Irish national soccer team was named earlier on Wednesday in Seoul by the South Korea Football Association (KFA) as one of their two candidates for the head coach post.
Former French coach Gerard Houllier, who was the other candidate, has already been reported by Sky Sports News to turn down the job in London.
McCarthy, 48, steered Ireland to the second round of the 2002 World Cup held in South Korea and Japan.
The KFA, which would make their appointment by the end of the week, has been in talks with several coaches since Pim Verbeek's resignation in July after the Asian Cup, narrowing the choice down to the two high-profile figures.
