BRUSSELS, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- Defending champions PSV Eindhoven whipped visitors Utrecht 4-1 Saturday night, overtaking Ajax at the top of the table of the Dutch first division, Eredivisie.

PSV dominated the match at Eindhoven, the club's first in two weeks after its showdown with Ajax last weekend was canceled due to police strike.

During the match, Danish international Kenneth Perez opened the score for the hosts, the only goal in the first half.

One minute into the second half, Leroy George produced the equalizer for Utrecht, before PSV's top guys humiliated the visitors. At the 64th minute, Serbian international Danko Lazovic regained PSV's lead, three minutes later, Perez made it double, and five minutes before the final whistle, red-hot Dutch international Danny Koevermans sealed the victory for PSV.

After 15 matches, Eindhoven are two points clear of Ajax, which have a game in hand.

In another two matches on Saturday, fast improving Heerenveen suffered a surprise 1-2 home defeat by Twente, and saw its three-match winning streak halted. Groningen beat hosts Heracles 2-1.

Heerenveen are currently in third place in the Eredivisie table with 29 points out of 16 matches.
