BRASILIA, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Brazilian soccer team of Botafogo may fire Reinaldo and sign Leandrao, reported local press on Sunday.
Although Reinaldo has a contract that keeps him with Botafogo through the 2008 season, the player may be traded to General Serviano, where he would receive a higher salary.
"Actually, the athlete did not have a very good year with us and his salary is too high for us to maintain him. However, we will remain calm because we enjoy the presence of Reinaldo around here," said the team secretary Ricardo Rotenberg.
Leandrao, who is now with Turkish team Vestel Manisapor, did not have a good year. He could be released by the Turkish team due to his performance, which is good news for Botafogo.
Currently, the team has already signed forwards Jorge Henrique and Wellington Paulista for 2008.
