Beijing to meet Jiangsu in final at Good Luck Beijing Women's Handball Tournament

BEIJING, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Beijing ousted injury-hit national champion PLA 30-27 in the semifinals at the Good Luck Beijing Women's Handball Tournament here on Wednesday and will meet Jiangsu in the final.

As 2007 national championship runner-up, Beijing raced past PLA34-28 in the round-robin competition on Tuesday.

The two teams tied 15-15 in the first half, but the PLA side seemed to have a worse physical condition and failed to catch up with the rival in the second half, losing the game 27-30.

"Many of our key players are still sidelined. We have to turn to those inexperienced substitutes, and some of them failed to well distribute their physical strength throughout the game," said Guo Weidong, coach of PLA.

In Friday's final, Beijing will play against Jiangsu. The two teams drew 29-29 when they first met in the preliminary.
