HARARE, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian coach Jose Claudinei Georgini, commonly known as Valinhos, was on Tuesday unveiled as the new coach of the Zimbabwe Warriors with the mandate to take them to the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa, local media reported on Wednesday.

Zimbabwe's acting President Joseph Msika handed Valinhos a golden Warriors shirt at a Harare hotel Tuesday night to mark the official start of his relationship with a team that has so far failed to convert its potential into success, according to Wednesday's The Herald.

The Warriors fans will be hoping that the golden shirt handed to Valinhos will also mark the start of a golden era for Zimbabwean football.

Valinhos is due to address his maiden media conference before local football writers at Zifa House in Livingstone Avenue in Harare on Wednesday.
