Atletico-MG holds their 1st practice with ball under new coach

BRASILIA, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- In their third day of preseason training, the soccer club of Atletico-MG on Wednesday had their first day of practice with the ball on the field while under the command of their new head coach, Geninho.

According to the coach, it is still very early to talk about field formations and who will be the starters for their first game of the year against the team of Democrata for the statewide tournament.

"It is a little premature to talk about what I am going to do with the team. Today, I had my first practice with the ball, along with defensive drills and motion without the ball," said Geninho.

The coach claimed that he is not ready to concentrate on formations or worried about who will be the 11 starters on the 27th of January. He claims it is more important to be aware that he has a good group of players in his hands.

"The players are working in practice, which thus far has been 80% physical and 20% technical. Everyone is working hard to prepare themselves in the best way they can for a starting spot," said the head coach.

Geninho did not want to speculate on the tactical side of the game for the Mineiro championship.

"It will depend on what I have available. I believe that we have great midfielders that will help defend and that will allow me to use only two fullbacks." concluded Geninho from the team's training facilities in Uberlandia, Minas de Gerais.
