LONDON, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Manager Sam Allardyce parted company with Newcastle United Wednesday due to the team's poor result in the league.
"This decision has been reached by mutual agreement," a statement on the club's website said.
Allardyce said: "I am disappointed to be leaving Newcastle United but I wish the club all the best for the remainder of the season and for the future."
First team coach Nigel Pearson will take charge of the team for Saturday's match at champions Manchester United.
Allardyce leaves after only 21 league games in charge following his appointment on a three-year contract last year. Newcastle are 11th in the standings.
