BRASILIA, March 14 (Xinhua) -- In the upcoming match against Sao Paulo on Sunday, Palmeiras hope to stretch their eight game winning streak.

History has shown that Sao Paulo has gotten the best of Palmeiras over the past few years.

The team from Morumbi kept Palmeiras from entering the Libertadores Cup in 2005 and 2006. In 2007, Sao Paulo won twice and tied once against Palmerias.

Last time Palmeiras accumulated an eight game winning streak was in the 2000 season, coached by Marco Aurelio. In that year, the team built a 12-game undefeated streak before falling to Sao Caetano 4-3.

The team now is hoping to continue to play the sound soccer that has brought them to the top four in the Sao Paulo state tournament.
