BUENOS AIRES, March 16 (Xinhua) -- The manager of Santa Fe soccer team Colon, Leonardo Astrada, on Sunday announced his resignation due to poor results, the first such in Argentina's Closing Tournament, now in its sixth round.

"I am the person bearing the most blame," Astrada said, referring to the team's 1-0 loss at its home stadium, facing Buenos Aires team Argentinos Juniors. Colon has only four league points after four losses, one win and a draw.

Astrada said he had taken his decision after a Saturday night meeting with club president German Lerche.

"I was wrong when I made certain plans and chose certain players. Although I cannot blame them, because they always gave their all, the results were not what they aimed for," he said.

Astrada was 10 months with the club, achieving patchy results that only worsened recently.
