LIMA, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Mexican soccer team America arrived in Peruvian capital Lima on Monday ahead of Wednesday's game against Deportivo Universidad San Martin de Porres as part of a Group V in Copa Libertadores, the South America's most prestigious competition for clubs.
"We have come for those three points and are facing a rival which is pretty strong, even though it is a newcomer to this competition," said Ruben Romano, America's manager.
He said that America, known as Aguilas (Eagles), had come with the firm intention of qualifying top of the group.
Last week in Mexico City, America defeated San Martin 2-0, making it joint group leader with six points alongside Argentine giant River Plate.
With three rounds played, San Martin and Chile's Universidad Catolica both have three points.
