LAGOS, March 25 (Xinhua) -- National U-23 coach Samson Siasia assured of his team's preparedness ahead of the Olympic qualifier against the Amaglug-Glug of South Africa on Wednesday.

"We have come this far in preparing for the match and victory is our goal," Siasia said.

He was speaking with newsmen shortly after a training session at the Abuja National Stadium, according to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria.

"My boys know the importance of the match because it is a step to the Beijing Olympics. We shall be at the Summer Games and so work hard to succeed, we must," Siasia said.

He said the arrival of England-based Victor Anichebe on Monday had enlivened the camp spirit.

"I am very happy to see Anichebe arrive at the camp because I need him in the team. Anichebe, who had camped with the senior team severally but had yet to gain a first cap, was omitted from the squad that represented Nigeria at the African Cup of Nations in Ghana earlier in the year," he said.

Nigeria need a win over the South Africans to edge out Meteors from the Olympic ticket.

Meanwhile, the South African U-23 head coach Steve Komphere, has said his team was in Nigeria to upset the home team by winning the match.

"We are here to upset the Nigerian team and we are serious about that," Komphere said in Abuja.

He said his team was made up of young talented players who were eager to make name.

"My team is made up of young talented players from the South African Premier Soccer League," Komphere said.

The South Africans have nothing at stake in the match, having lost all their three previous Olympic qualifiers.
