Palmerias downs Sao Caetano 3-1

BRASILIA, March 29 (Xinhua) -- In Saturday's game against Sao Caetano without suspended star Kleber and main defensive player Gustavo, who has accumulated too many yellow cards, Palmerias pulled off a convincing 3-1 win in the Sao Paulo state tournament.

In the first half, Palmeiras dominated the time of possession. In the 24th minute of the second half, Valdivia was able to mark the third goal of the day. After having received a pass from Elder Granja, the player kicked a one-timer and the ball traveled past the goalie of Sao Caetano to score the third of the day for Palmeiras.

Five minutes later, Sao Caetano lit up their score board after having scored on a penalty kick after Elder Granja was penalized for a hand ball in the penalty box. The game ended with a 3-1 score in favor of Palmeiras.

With Saturday's victory, Palmeiras accumulated their 37th point in this year's Sao Paulo state tournament.

The team is currently in the lead of the state tournament but awaits Sunday's results in order to verify their position. For certain, the team has secured their presence in the final phases of the tournament. Consequently, Sao Caetano drops to 13th place in the tournament and out of contention.
