Rio's popular football club America threatened by relegation

RIO DE JANEIRO, April 5 (Xinhua) -- One of the most traditional football clubs in Rio, America, will be threatened by relegation on Saturday.
If it loses to Friburguense in their last game in the second phase of Rio's 2008 state championship, it will fall to the second division of the tournament in 2009.
That means that the team would not participate in any competition for 16 months, as Rio's second division teams will play only at the end of next year.
