Special report:
KATHMANDU, April 6 (Xinhua) -- The restrictions on mounting Mr. Qomolangma before May 10 will not hamper expeditions this spring season, Nepali local newspaper The Kathmandu Post quoted a Nepali official as saying on Sunday.
According to the report, in order to "allay Chinese concerns over the safety of Olympic flame, the government has decided to put a ban on ascending Mt. Everest peak (Mt. Qomolangma) until May10, the day when the torch is expected to be taken to the top."
"The prohibition will not hamper expeditions this spring season, as climbers normally do not attempt to scale the world's highest peak until mid-May," the report quoted the official.
Till now, 17 expeditions have received permission to climb Mt. Qomolangma this spring season.
