ANOC: All 205 NOCs to take part in Beijing Olympics

BEIJING, April 9 (Xinhua) -- The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) would give full support to the Beijing Olympic Games, said ANOC President Mario Vazquez Rana here on Wednesday.

"ANOC members express full support to the Beijing Olympic Games and none of our members gave any indication of not supporting the game," Rana told a press conference.

"We are satisfied with the outcome, which is good for China and the Chinese people," he added.

Rana told Xinhua that all 205 member NOCs affiliated to the ANOC will "for 100 percent sure" participate in the Beijing Games.

The 16th ANOC General Assembly, which focuses on the preparation of Beijing Olympics, started on Monday and run through Wednesday.

"These are the important days for the national Olympic committees (NOCs)," Rana said. "Above all, it is important for our athletes."

Sports and politics should respect each other and we don't want political world to interfere with our affairs, he added.

ANOC affiliates NOCs recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). There are 205 NOCs to date, according to ANOC's official website.
