Uruguay's River Plate heads for Uruguayan soccer title

MONTEVIDEO, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Uruguay's River Plate soccer club on Sunday defeated its counterpart Bella Vista by 2-0 and is back on top towards Uruguay's closing championship thanks to Nacional's 1-1 tie against Liverpool on Saturday.

Uruguay's River Plate and Nacional soccer clubs have 28 points each after 11 games, while Liverpool has 24, while Penarol has 22,although it still has a chance to increase since it play's this Sunday afternoon.

River Plate confirmed its chances to win Uruguay's championship on Sunday after Sergio Souza scored the first goal in the 26th minute of play and Andres Gonzalez scored in minute 60 in their home Saroldi stadium.

On Saturday Danubio tied 2-2 against Rampla Juniors, while Wanderers defeated Miramar Misiones by 4-2.

Other Uruguayan 11th-round games that will be played this Sunday are Penarol-Cerro, Juventud-Defensor Sporting, Central Espanol-Fenix and Tacuarembo-Progreso.
