Chinese pair net 3 consecutive wins in Shanghai beach volleyball

SHANGHAI, May 1 (Xinhua) -- China's top men's tandem Wu Penggen/Xu Linyin continued their march of victories Thursday by defeating a Norwegian pair 2-0 at the Shanghai beach volleyball tournament here on Thursday.

Shortly after the beginning of the first set, the Chinese men took a dominant position by successively blocking attacks of their Norwegian challengers Jorre Kjemperud/Tarjei Skarlund. The first set ended with 21-8.

The Norwegian players lost again in the second half 21-16, although they tried to adjust their ways of attacks to cope with the sophisticated defense of the Chinese pair.

Wu told reporters after the match that they had brought their levels to full play in the match.

On Wednesday, the fourth-seeded Chinese tandem defeated a French and a Georgian pairs in the first and second rounds of men's main draw of the China Shanghai Jinshan Open.
