Flamengo defeats Botafogo for Rio title

BRASILIA, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Flamengo downed Botafogo 3-1 to take the Rio de Janeiro state championship on Sunday.
Flamengo had beaten Botafogo 1-0 in the first leg last week and needed a draw to win its second consecutive state title, and 30th overall.
Flamengo tied Fluminense as Rio's most successful club.
