Boca defeats River in Argentine soccer tournament

BUENOS AIRES, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Boca Juniors on Sunday defeated River Plate 1-0 in the super classic Argentine soccer confrontation at "La Bombonera" stadium in the framework of Argentina's Closing tournament's 13th round.

The goal was scored by defensive midfielder Sebastian Battagliain the 14th minute with a head shot after receiving a corner pass.

River Plate and Estudiantes de la Plata are still leading the tournament with 28 points, although Boca's win on Sunday puts them one point away from them, since they now have 27 points.

Boca almost had three years without defeating River.
