YABULI, Northeast China, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Japan's Sato Koichiro lifted nordic combined title by notching a total of 227.7 points out of 10-kilometer cross-country race and K90m ski jumping here at the Harbin Universiade on Tuesday.
Sato finished the mass start 10km cross-country in a time of 25 minutes and 37.9 seconds, ranked in a moderate 14th place (90.7 points), but rallied to win the combined event through strong jumpings in 91.5 and 99.0 meters (137 points).
Sato's teammate Nagai Takehiro was edged to second place by 2.8 points. Petr Kutal from Czech Republic managed a podium place in 223.4 points.
Nagai booked a sixth on cross-country in 24:41.1 (104.9 points), also by long jumpings of 91 and 93 meters to leapfrog his opponents.
Kutal was 15th in 23:51 (87.4 points) on cross-country and landed 93 and 95 meters (136 points) in jumping.
Florian Pinel of France started strong in cross-country clocking fastest 23:40.6 (120 points), but withered on jumping with underperformed 81 and 81.5 meters (85 points). He slid to a final ninth.
