ROME, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Italy took a comfortable opening win in the men's volleyball World League as they beat China 3-0 on Friday.
Even against a not perfect Chinese team, the Azzurri offered a very positive performance in front an enthusiastic crowd.
The Italian team led 8-7 at the first technical
timeout and then was able to play their game, putting more pressure on China before closing out the first set 25-16 in only 23 minutes.
China tried to mount a comeback but it was Italy that looked always impressive, winning the remaining sets at 25-12 and 25-16.
China coach Zhou Jianan said: "Tonight we play very bad and Italy is very effective in attack and defensive work. I admit that the two teams are in different league."
