ROME, July 30 (Xinhua) -- China's Zhao Jing won the women's 50m backstroke gold medal in a world record time of 27.06 seconds at the world swimming championships here on Thursday.
Zhao bettered the previous mark of 27.38 seconds set by Anastasia Zueva in Wednesday's semifinals.
Germany's Daniela Samulski claimed silver in 27.23 seconds with Chinese Gao Chang taking bronze in 27.28.
