Russian Efimova wins women's 50m breaststroke gold in world record

ROME, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Russia's Yuliya Efimova won the women's 50m breaststroke gold medal in a world record time of 30.09 seconds at the world swimming championships here on Sunday.

The previous record of 30.23 was set by Canadian Amanda Reason on July 8 in Montreal.

American Rebecca Soni came second in 30.11 and Australian Sarah Katsoulis third in 30.16.
