RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Fluminense's head coach Cuca may be given a contract extension when his term ends in December.

The Brazilian soccer club Monday expressed their interest in keeping the coach in 2010.

The announcement came just one day after the team's miraculous come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Cruzeiro on Sunday. Fluminense president Roberto Horcades openly gave his accolades to Cuca.

"Our win served as an omen to those who did not believe. Fluminense is a team with a lot of heart. We never gave up hope in Cuca or the athletes," said Horcades.

In the second to last place with 33 points, Fluminense remains in danger of falling into the second division of the 2010 Brazilian Championship. With only five rounds left in this year's tournament, the team needs nothing less than a miracle to remain in the top flight.
