The combination of sports and tourism with culture is a good idea for mutual promotion of these areas, Giersz was quoted by Polish news agency PAP as saying.

The two ministries intend to tighten cooperation on the occasion of Chopin Year in 2010 but also in connection with Euro 2012.

"We have a joint interests in developing our cooperation, promoting tourism through culture and vice versa," Giersz said.

The agreement is also intended to improve the functioning of culture institutions servicing big organized groups visiting Poland.

"There are institutions in Poland which have excellent guides, a long tradition, in servicing big groups, have good guidebooks. But they are still rare," Zdrojewski said.

In the area of Poland's promotion abroad, the two ministries will be represented by Adam Mickiewicz Institute and Polish Tourism Organization.

Poland will co-host the European soccer championship with Ukraine in 2012.
