WASHINGTON, March 16 (Xinhua) -- World number one Roger Federer was surprised by Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus, losing 7-5, 5-7, 6-7 (4) in the third round of the Indian Wells Masters.
Baghdatis booked his first win over Federer in their seven meetings and had never beaten a world number one-ranked player.
The last time 16-time Grand Slam champion Federer lost a match in which he held at least one match point was the 2006 Rome final against Rafael Nadal.
