MOSCOW, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Russia's rhythmic gymnastics Olympic champion Natalia Lavrova died at 25 in a traffic accident on Friday.
The one and only Russian rhythmic gymnast having won two Olympic gold medals was riding in a car driven by her sister near the city of Penza, southeast of Moscow where their car collided with another vehicle.
A Penza province traffic police spokesman announced the sad news via state-run Rossiya-24 television. He said Lavrova and her sister died on the spot.
Lavrova won in the team competitions at the Sydney and Athens Olympics in 2000 and 2004.
