Senior Chinese official urges security boosted for Asian Games

GUANGZHOU, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese leader Zhou Yongkang called on security forces to ensure the safety of next month's Asian Games during a two-day tour of the host city Guangzhou, which ended Wednesday.

Zhou, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Political and Legal Affairs, urged all security personnel to strictly follow legal procedures in courteous and caring way.

He said security procedures in the city should avoid disturbing the daily lives of residents.

The 16th Asian Games is scheduled to start on Nov. 12.
