DANDONG, Liaoning Province, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Former Chinese soccer chief Xie Yalong was sentenced to 10 and a half years in prison for taking bribes.

Xie, who was charged with 12 counts of accepting bribes, which totalled more than 1.7 million yuan (273,000 US dollars), said during April's court session that he had been tortured to admit to crimes, a claim that Liaoning police strongly denied.

Xie was also fined 200,000 yuan (31,340 US dollars).
