Brazil's Olympic swimmer faces doping panel

RIO DE JANEIRO, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Olympic 100m butterfly competitor Glauber Silva is one of three Brazilian swimmers who will appear before a doping panel after testing positive to a banned substance.

Silva will join Flavia Delaroli and 16-year-old Pamela Souza at a hearing conducted by the Brazilian Aquatic Sports Confederation next Tuesday.

Each was found to have traces of illegal substances during routine tests at Brazil's Olympic trials in Rio de Janeiro in March.

"Only after the hearing will we be able to reveal the results and the substances found," Brazil's confederation spokeswoman Sandra Soldan said.

Silva, who is reported to have tested positive to masking agent furosemide, qualified for the London Games with a time of 52.24 seconds, the 17th fastest 100m butterfly time in the world this year.
