MOSCOW, June 27 (Xinhua) -- The Olympic Village for Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games will be completed in the second half of 2013, the Russian contractor said Wednesday.

Head of Rosa Khutor company, the contractor of the Olympic Village, told Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak that the project has been in progress as scheduled.

Kozak, who convened officials for the Olympics preparation in Sochi, said there were no problems during the village construction process.

The official told reporters the project was unique since it would be a "mountain Olympic Village" and the geology of the site was complicated.

"Here in the mountain cluster especially, all the objects are unique. This is a sleigh and bobsleigh track, ski tracks...(the village) is partially located over the tunnel, there are no similar projects," said Kozak.

According to him, the organizers of the Sochi Games will learn from the upcoming London Olympics in order to make the Winter Olympics better.

"The next Olympics should learn everything from the previous one and do something better of its own. We will absorb the world experience like a sponge," Kozak said.

The Olympic Village, designed to host 2,600 people, is located at 1,100 meter altitude in the Black Sea resort with some 50 buildings under construction. The village will be linked to the sporting venues and the city by highways and the cable road.

Sochi Winter Olympics is slated from February 7 to 23 in 2014.
