LUSAKA, July 5 (Xinhua) -- The Zambia under-20 national soccer team is through to the Africa Youth Championship following Lesotho's withdrawal from the final round of qualifiers, the Zambia Daily Mail reported on Thursday.

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) communications officer Erick Mwanza said Lesotho's withdrawal was made known on Tuesday but did not give reasons for the pullout.

Zambia were scheduled to face Lesotho away in Maseru on July 28.

"Lesotho informed us that they have pulled out of the qualifiers which we were supposed to play this month. This is good news for us but also bad because our team will not play an international match for now," he was quoted as saying by the paper.

The 18th Africa Youth Championship will be held in Algeria next year. Zambia's best performance at the championship has been finishing fourth in 1999 and 2007, and subsequently qualifying for the World U20 Championships.
