Tanzanians take lead in 2012 Uganda Amateur Golf Ladies Open

KAMPALA, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Tanzania women golf players on Friday showed their prowess and took the lead in Day One of the 2012 Uganda Amateur Ladies Open at the Kitante Golf Course in the capital Kampala.

The 22-year-old Angel Eaton took a one over par 73 score lead on the opening round of the prestigious event on a wet par 72 course.

Defending champion Flavia Namakula from Uganda shot four over par 76 to end her opening round in third position before serious action on Saturday.

Tanzania's Hawa Wanyeche was second after an opening round of three over par 75.

"I played some really awesome golf today and everything was just going right for me on the course," Eaton said.

The three day tournament has attracted players from Uganda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Kenya.
