China to officially set up 2023 AFC Asian Cup Organizing Committee

BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- China's State Council has agreed to establish the 2023 AFC Asian Cup Chinese Organizing Committee, the government's official website announced on Monday.

The Organizing Committee will be co-chaired by Gou Zhongwen, minister of China's State General Administration of Sport and Chen Jining, mayor of Beijing. Deputy minister of China's State General Administration of Sport Du Zhaocai, who is also a FIFA council member, has been named as the executive chairman.

The Organizing Committee will establish its Secretariat in the Chinese Football Association to run the daily operational works, while host cities Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xian, Dalian, Qingdao, Xiamen, and Suzhou will also set up offices to support the Organizing Committee.

China was awarded the hosting right of 2023 AFC Asian Cup on June 14, 2019.
