RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta has been drafted into Brazil's squad for World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Uruguay, the Brazilian Football Confederation said on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old replaces Barcelona's Philippe Coutinho who suffered a left hamstring tear during the Blaugrana's 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in La Liga on Saturday.

Paqueta has been capped 10 times for Brazil and scored in his most recent appearance; a 3-1 victory over the Czech Republic last November.

The former Flamengo prodigy joined Lyon for 20 million euros (around 24 million U.S. dollars) in September after an 18-month spell at AC Milan.

Brazil will face Venezuela at Sao Paulo's Morumbi stadium on November 14 and Uruguay at Estadio Centenario in Montevideo three days later.

The five-time world champion currently leads the 10-team CONMEBOL qualifying standings after beating Bolivia and Peru in its first two qualifiers. Enditem
