BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- The National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) has postponed FA Cup 2020, the country's premier cup competition, until the press conference on the next COVID-19 de-escalation plan.

"After holding several discussions with certain parties, NFABD would like to inform that the decision on whether the FA Cup will be held or not is postponed until the relevant parties hold a press conference on the next de-escalation process," local daily the Borneo Bulletin reported on Wednesday, quoting an NFABD statement.

"As such, the timeframe allocated for the decision is no later than November 9, 2020," the statement added.

Earlier this year, the Brunei Super League (BSL) 2020, the country's top tier of football system, contested two rounds only before suspended in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was eventually canceled on September 19.

According to the report, NFABD has since intended to replace the league with the FA Cup, which could serve as a potential route for local clubs as winners to represent the country in next year's Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup. Enditem
