KAMPALA, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- Uganda has stepped up preparations ahead of the FIBA AfroBasket 2021 qualifiers slated for Nov. 27-29 in Alexandria, Egypt.

Mandy Juruni, head coach of Uganda's national basketball team (nicknamed the Silverbacks), told Xinhua in an interview here on Thursday that the team, which has been training for over a month, now is shaping up well.

"We need to prepare well enough because we shall face tough teams in the group," said Juruni.

Uganda is placed in Group E alongside hosts Egypt, Morocco and Cape Verde.

Uganda's team had plans of camping for two weeks in Egypt before the Championship, but a lack of financial resources forced them to change the plans and wait to travel for the competition.

The other teams that will take part in the competition include: Tunisia, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Madagascar, Senegal, Angola, Mozambique, Kenya, Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Cote d'Ivoire, Mali, Cameroon, Nigeria, Rwanda and Algeria. Enditem
