Tianjin claims opening victory in Chinese Women's Volleyball League

JIANGMEN, China, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Tianjin opened its Chinese women's volleyball league with a comfortable victory here on Friday, after the defending champion beat Guangdong 3-0.

Tianjin had a strong start to the new season while Guangdong failed to create real chances, as Tianjin claimed the opening victory with a straight-set win (25-17, 25-17, 25-20).

Tianjin's spiker Li Yingying scored a match-high 20 points with star spiker Zhu Ting adding 13, while Dobriana Rabadzhieva and Kelsey Robinson scored 17 and 16 for Guangdong respectively.

In a highly-anticipated match between Shanghai and Beijing, the runner-up of last season climbed out of an early hole to beat Beijing 3-1 (17-25, 25-13, 25-18, 25-16).

Shanghai's opposite Louisa Lippmann pocketed a stunning 32 points while Jin Ye led Beijing with 19.

Elsewhere, Liaoning defeated Yunnan 3-1, Jiangsu triumphed Hebei 3-0, Shandong overcame Fujian 3-0 and Zhejiang smashed Henan 3-0. Enditem
