BEIJING, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Liaoning Flying Leopards guard Zhao Jiwei and Guangdong Southern Tigers guard Marshon Brooks were named Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) players of the month for December.

Zhao averaged 14.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.3 steals last month, as Liaoning recorded a 9-1 record down the stretch.

As the league's monthly award is designed to both a domestic and an overseas player, Brooks triumphed in the overseas category with average stats of 31.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steals in Guangdong's 10 victories from 11 matches.

Zhao's teammate Guo Ailun was the winner in the first edition, in which the overseas category was not awarded as no player met the minimum requirement of having played ten matches in the month.

Liaoning leads the 19-team standings with a 25-3 record, while Guangdong is one place behind with a 22-4 record.
