Falcioni takes charge of Argentina's Independiente

BUENOS AIRES, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- Veteran coach Julio Cesar Falcioni has been appointed manager of Independiente for a second time, the Argentine club said on Thursday.

The 64-year-old replaces Lucas Pusineri, who departed earlier this month after the club's disappointing Diego Maradona Cup campaign.

"Welcome Julio Cesar. Falcioni is Independiente's new coach," the club said on its official Twitter account, without providing details of the contract.

Falcioni, who began his coaching career with Velez Sarsfield in 1997, also had a spell in charge of Independiente in 2005 and 2006.

As a a former goalkeeper, Falcioni made one appearance for Argentina's national team in 1989. Enditem
