RIO DE JANEIRO, March 1 (Xinhua) -- Spanish manager Miguel Angel Ramirez has reached an agreement to take charge of Internacional, the Brazilian club said on Monday.

The 36-year-old will replace Abel Braga, who parted ways with the Porto Alegre outfit following a goalless home draw with Corinthians in the final match of the Brazilian Serie A season on last Thursday.

"Miguel Angel Ramirez disembarked in Porto Alegre this morning to talk to the board and formalize his agreement with the club," read an Internacional statement.

The appointment is expected to be confirmed with a press conference in the coming days.

Ramirez has been out of work since ending a two-year spell as manager of Ecuador's Independiente del Valle in December.

Internacional finished second in the 20-team Brazilian Serie A standings, a point behind champions Flamengo. Enditem
