MADRID, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Atletico Madrid dropped two points in the race for the La Liga title as they were held to a 0-0 draw away to Getafe on Saturday night.

The result means Real Madrid move to within six points of the top of the table and FC Barcelona could close to within four if they win away to Huesca on Sunday night.

Getafe keeper David Soria made a series of excellent saves to deny Atletico, especially after defender Allan Nyom was sent off for a bad foul with 20 minutes left to play.

Atletico pushed hard for a win and Luis Suarez hit the post with seven minutes to play, while Joao Felix had a goal ruled out after Llorente's cross had previously curled out of play.

Karim Benzema scored two late goals to give Real Madrid side three points and break the hearts of a valiant Elche, who had taken a 61st minute lead thanks to Dani Calvo's header.

The entry of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos changed the game and Benzema scored a 73rd minute header before sealing the points in injury-time with an angled left-foot volley that went in off the post.

Alaves remain deep in relegation trouble after a 1-1 draw at home to Cadiz. Joselu put the home side ahead from the penalty spot in the 38th minute with Alex Fernandez leveling for the visitors, again from the penalty spot after home captain Manu Garcia was sent off for two yellow cards in the space of one minute.

Osasuna and Real Valladolid drew 0-0 in a result that edges both sides closer to safety after a game which saw Osasuna have the better of the first half, while Valladolid were the better team after the break.

The round of games kicked off on Friday with Roger Marti's goal giving Levante a 1-0 win over local rivals Valencia. Enditem
