MEXICO CITY, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Puebla rose to fourth in Mexico's Liga MX Clausura standings on Friday with a 3-1 home victory over 10-man Mazatlan.

Brazilian midfielder Giovanni Augusto opened the scoring for the visitors with a 16th-minute strike after he was set up by Camilo Sanvezzo.

Santiago Ormeno equalized on the stroke of halftime by converting a penalty after Nicolas Vikonis earned his second yellow card for bringing down Amaury Escoto.

The hosts capitalized on their numerical advantage by dictating terms immediately after the restart.

Salvador Reyes gave Puebla the lead with a long-range effort into the top-left corner and Maximiliano Araujo put the result beyond doubt by sweeping home a left-footed finish after a corner.

Puebla are now fourth in the 18-team standings, 11 points behind Cruz Azul while Mazatlan are 11th, 17 points off the pace. Enditem
